    Supreme Court Rejects Anti-Abortion Activists’ ‘Personhood’ Plea

    On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected the challenge brought against the decision of the Oklahoma Supreme Court striking down an attempt to place a “personhood” amendment to ballot in Oklahoma. The challenge was brought by anti-abortion group Personhood Oklahoma, which supported the movement for a measure to be put to ballot for declaring that a human embryo gains ‘personhood’ at the moment of its conception. If the measure had been put to ballot then the government would have required Oklahoma voters to decide whether to change the definition of a human being to include a fertilized egg or not.
